LG-made Nexus device rumored to include quad-core processor, may launch in mid-November [UPDATED]Alex Wagner - Deputy Managing Editor, News Desk
It was just shy of a year ago that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus made its debut, and that fact has caused many to begin speculating on what the next member(s) of the Nexus family may be and when we might see it debut. Some possible details of an LG-made Nexus have been posted today by MoDaCo, so Android fans waiting to open their wallets for a new Nexus may want to pay attention. According to sources speaking to the site, the device will be based off of the LG Optimus G, which is a rumor that's been floating around recently.
When it comes to specs, this LG Nexus device will reportedly feature a quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 2GB RAM and a 1280x768 True HD IPS display, just like the Optimus G. We're also told to expect an 8-megapixel rear shooter, on-screen navigation keys, non-removable battery, wireless charging, no microSD card slot and models with either 8GB or 16GB storage. The final name of the device is said to still be up in the air. For those of you shouting "But when can I buy one?!", a launch is purportedly scheduled for mid-November.
The specs of the LG Optimus G seem to have impressed many folks so far, and I'm betting that many folks would like to see a Nexus device with similar internals. It's also worth noting that a report from back in mid-May claimed that Google was planning to work with several manufacturers on a range of Nexus products that would be available by Thanksgiving. MoDaCo doesn't know whether or not that is still the case, but for anyone that likes options or might not like the sound of this LG Nexus for whatever reason, it's something to keep in mind. So, what do you all make of this purported LG Nexus? Does it sound like something you'd open your wallet for?
UPDATE: CNET just published its own report on this LG Nexus device, claiming that the phone will indeed be based on the Optimus G. While no official name has been chosen yet, an announcement for the LG Nexus is said to be coming at the end of this month.
